Joy Bathie

I have always created. I have always loved books. I have always loved colour and texture. Nothing in particular inspires me to create. it’s just part of me, I guess. It always was and always will be. Maybe being an Aquarian has something to do with it! Although I have worked with almost every imaginable art and craft media and technique over the years, it has really been during the past 10 years or so that all this love and experience has come together in the form of the paper arts.

Books have always been treasured items in my life, and with a great sense of anticipation I attempted to make my first “proper” book several years ago when I participated in a workshop held by the Conservation Department of the Library of New South Wales in Sydney. This was an exciting day and unlocked the mysteries of bookbinding, giving me the confidence to create my own books. I then became interested in artists journals, and particularly altered books.

And the rest, as they say, is history….
