As
a young child I always used to paint and dabbled in calligraphy, so art
has always been a part of my life. From the age of 13 - 23 I
put aside my brushes and pens to concentrate on my sporting career, and
I played professional field hockey up until I moved to Australia almost
7 years ago.
Moving
countries, adjusting to a new culture, missing my family and newly married
got me thinking about the past and how much I missed my ‘roots’,
and through this I once again found my inspiration for the arts. I
re-acquainted myself with my pens and brushes and began painting and
writing, and so fell in love all over again. I then took up Scrapbooking
about 4 years ago and the last 2 years have added Stamping, ATC’s
and Altered books to my repertoire
Needless to
say I’ve taken over one of the guest rooms in the
house, stocked from floor to ceiling with shelves, books, paints, brushes,
papers, you name it, I’ve got it, and boy have I spent money acquiring
it, but loving every minute of it. My own private sanctuary.
I’ve found immense pleasure in joining the various online groups
and stamping clubs, societies and attending workshops. This has
done wonders to expand my knowledge and skills and I’ve met some
fabulous people along the way. |
